Hyperclay Local docs

Run, edit, and sync malleable documents on your computer with Hyperclay Local.

Hyperclay Local is a free desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux that serves a folder of malleable documents on your computer and syncs it both ways with your Hyperclay workspace. A malleable document is a single HTML file that edits itself in the browser and saves the change back into the file on disk. You can work on your own files offline and sync them with your online workspace and team folders whenever you connect.

Why Hyperclay Local exists#

Reusable, portable, free, open-source software that anyone can use and improve on their own needs a lightweight visual and data format. The HTML file fits that role because it packages interface, code, and data in one file and gives you the full web platform.

We built a system around the HTML file so you can update it like a web application, both on the web and on your own computer. Hyperclay Local runs a local server for your folders so your HTML files save straight to disk, work offline, and stay portable enough to email around, while syncing in both directions with your Hyperclay workspace and teams.

What people do with Hyperclay Local#

  • Work offline on a daily work journal: Keep a journal of client work, to-dos, finished tasks, and project plans as plain HTML files on your disk that sync to your workspace when you are online.
  • Sync with your workspace and team folders: Edit documents in the workspace window or your browser, and sync changes both ways with your personal Hyperclay workspace and shared team folders.
  • Run AI project dashboards on disk: Let an AI agent build a dashboard for a multi-week project and update it through the document’s JSON API while changes appear live in your browser.
  • Use forms, diagrams, and screenshot feedback: Fill out question forms from your AI agent, draw diagrams, or mark up screenshots with an embedded feedback tool. Your edits save into the HTML file on disk so your agent can read them directly.

Every document in your folder is a plain HTML file that stays under your control.
